Instrument, Controls and Electrical Technician Career Program
April 2023 – April 2024 – 12 Months
Approved by Director of EHS
As the Project Manager, I led the development of the Instrument, Controls, and Electrical Technician (IC&E) Technician Program promotion requirements, including a comprehensive checklist of tasks to be performed. The project objective was to establish clear documentation and structured training requirements for all three IC&E Tech levels, ensuring consistency in skill development both at the Power Plant and online. Upon completion, the deliverables were successfully submitted to Operations for approval.
Using the PMBOK framework, I managed the project across all five process groups. During Initiating, I defined the project scope, identified key stakeholders, and developed the project charter to establish expectations and align objectives with organizational goals. In the Planning phase, I created a detailed project management plan, incorporating scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management strategies. I also developed a stakeholder engagement plan to ensure input from key technical, both internal and external vendors and operational personnel.
In Executing, I oversaw the creation of standardized documentation for all three IC&E Tech levels, including promotion requirements and training checklists. I coordinated efforts across departments to gather technical insights and collaborated with subject matter experts to develop accurate, industry-compliant training materials. Additionally, I facilitated the integration of online training modules to enhance accessibility.
The Monitoring and Controlling phase involved tracking progress against the project plan, ensuring adherence to scope, quality, and schedule objectives. I implemented change control processes to address stakeholder feedback, reviewed risk mitigation strategies, and validated the accuracy and completeness of deliverables through structured review cycles. Performance metrics were assessed to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
In Closing, I finalized documentation, conducted a formal project review, and presented the completed deliverables to Operations for approval. Lessons learned were documented to refine future program development initiatives. Through a structured project management approach, I successfully delivered a robust and well-documented IC&E Technician Program, ensuring clear career progression and skill development pathways for technicians.
